The Lindfield Golden Oldies team known as the “Funnel Webs” has again been invited into the 2017 Rugby GO Draw. This is for over 35’s, and is a fiercely fought, yet highly enjoyable competition.

The Funnel Webs did go into hibernation last year only through the lack of venom in its numbers….

However the nest is complete with a full set of the coveted Gold Spider jerseys & some cash in the accounts….. so a new generation is ready to emerge.

We invite a new generation to “Spin the ball”.

Dear Players,

The 2017 Lindfield Rugby season is upon us and the Committee has been cracking the whip behind the scenes to prepare for another season of running rugby down at Tryon Road.

The season kicks off a little later this year with Round 1 being held on Saturday, 22 April 2017, at Home (Old Soldiers Memorial Oval) vs Beecroft. This is the ideal start to the 2017 season with further announcements to be made by the Committee about the Round 1 fixture shortly.

You will have also shortly see an announcement about the pre-season schedule for 2017 which will include details of pre-season training as well as trial matches which have already been locked in by the Committee.

We’re looking forward to welcoming past and new players down to the Club for pre-season, so make sure you all get down there with your mates to ensure the Club’s preparation for the upcoming season is as good as it’s ever been.

With that in mind, we are opening up the payment of subs for all playing members for the 2017 season immediately through Trybooking.

PRE-SEASON 2017

The 2017 season is just around the corner and you know what that means … PRE-SEASON!! With trial dates locked in and this season’s draw set in stone, The Old Soldier is gearing up for the biggest pre-season to date.

Before we welcome Beecroft to Tryon Rd on April 22nd, we kick off proceedings on Feb 2 with the first of our training sessions for 2017 at a venue TBA. We start trials against Waverly on March 25th, followed by the annual Melanoma Cup and our then final hit out against Knox Old Boys. We will also be fielding teams in the North Cronulla Beach 5’s Rugby this weekend as well as the our yearly trip up the Pacific Highway for the Crescent Head 7’s. Dates are as follows:

• Feb 2: First training session

• March 4th: Crescent Head 7’s

• March 25th: Waverley

• April 1st: Melanoma Cup (Mosman & Bathurst)

• April 8th: Knox

• April 22nd: Round 1

The Old Soldier is encouraging all players – past, present and prospective – to come down on Feb 2, get stuck in and whip those off-season guts into shape. Rd 1 isn’t far away and, I don’t know about you but, we cannot wait!

Once again that time of the year has rolled around, and to welcome in the new year and new season, we are having the annual Christmas Drinks.

I wish to cordially invite anyone that is within the lindfield Rugby family to come out on Friday evening and have a celebration of what is clearly a fantastic rugby club.
Please note that anyone is welcome, friends, Old Boys, current players, sponsors and anyone that feels they wish to get involved.
